Financial advisor conferences worth attending

Advisor conferences are still one of the few rooms where peers, platforms, and journalists gather in person. Use them for curriculum and relationships first. Use the leftover visibility: recaps, citations, and photos that give Google and AI systems a dated, third-party reason to mention the firm.

Key takeawaysUpdated September 2026 · Brent Carnduff
  1. 01The live calendar changes every year. Michael Kitces maintains the list most advisors actually use. We do not republish it.
  2. 02The SEO value is not the badge on a booth. It is the recap you publish, the people who link to it, and the entity clarity that follows.
  3. 03XYPN, T3, and Kitces-adjacent events are where the fiduciary conversation happens. Mega-broker conferences are a different audience.
  4. 04The old /advisorrankings-map URL pointed at this same topic and now permanently redirects here.

Where to get this year’s list

Michael Kitces publishes a current-year list of advisor conferences, with dates and who each event is for. That is the source of record. Link it from your own planning doc; do not scrape it onto your site.

Pick two events a year at most. One for technical curriculum, one for the peer group you actually want to sit next to. A booth at everything is a marketing plan with no thesis.

Which room, for what

The events differ less by size than by who is in the hallway. Choose for the conversation you want to be part of.

Kitces-adjacent eventsPractice-management thinkers, industry pressIdeas that show up in the trade press six months later

How a conference helps search, if you let it

  1. Within a week

    Publish a recap

What changed in the advice, who said it, and what you are changing in the practice. Name the event and the speakers. That page becomes a dated source AI systems can cite, and a reason for a host or speaker to link back.

  2. Same week

    Update the Business Profile

Photograph the team at the event and post the images to Google with the event name in the description. Listings that only ever show the office lobby look abandoned.

  3. Next month

Follow up with the people you met

A podcast host, a journalist, a speaker. One real conversation a year that turns into a byline or an interview is worth more than the booth.

Field notes from ranking fiduciary firms, including the events and publications that still move this industry.

Common questions

Asked and answered

Which conference is best for SEO-focused advisors?+

There is no SEO conference that replaces doing the work. XYPN and T3 are where technology and independent-firm operations get discussed in public. Use Kitces’ list for dates.

What happened to the AdvisorRankings conference map?+

The map lived at /advisorrankings-map and ranked for conference queries. That URL now permanently redirects here so the equity stays on one page.
